7 DAYS GORILLAS, CHIMPS AND MURCHISON FALLS

The tour starts and ends in Kampala-Uganda and takes you Murchison Falls, Kibale forests, and Bwindi Impenetrable forest. The activities include gorilla and chimp trekking, boat cruise and game drives. A gorilla and chimp trekking permit cost USD 600.00 and USD 150.00 respectively.

Day 1: Arrival, pick up and transfer to Murchison falls.

Day 2: Game drive and Boat cruise.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forests.

Day 4: Chimp trekking- Kibale.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi.

Day 6: Gorilla trekking-Bwindi.

Day 7: Transfer to Kampala

Detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival, pick up and transfer to Murchison Falls.

Our driver will pick you up from the Airport or Hotel and drive to Murchison falls national park. you will have a stopover in Masindi for a delicious lunch and another stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino trekking. Here you will be given some good time to clearly view the black and white Rhinos and then proceed to the park. Get in your lodge for dinner and slumber.

Accommodation: Paraa Safari lodge/ Red chilli Rest Camp/ Murchison River lodge

Drive hours: 5-6 hours.

Day 2: Game drive and Boat cruise.

Following an early morning breakfast, you will be required to go for a game drive around the park and view animals such as waterbucks, elephants, lions, buffaloes, among others. Get back to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, join other members for a boat cruise to the top of the falls and you will be able to spot water animals as well as birds. Dinner and slumber.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale forests national park.

Wake up early by 6:00 am and have your delicious breakfast and then start off the journey to Kibale forests national park-a home to over 1500 chimpanzees. You will view a lot of beautiful sceneries along the way and have a stopover in Fort Portal for lunch and later proceed to the park. check in your lodge and then visit the Bigodi Wetlands in the evening especially bird lovers.

Drive hours: 5-6 hours.

Day 4: Chimp trekking- Kibale.

Enjoy your breakfast and wait for pick up by your driver who will transfer you to the park Headquarters for briefing and grouping. Chimp trekking is not so hard because these primates do not over relocate like gorillas. The chimps are proved to be sharing 98% DNA with humans. One hour is given to visitors to view these primates and then trek back and have some lunch and relax. In the evenings, you can join in a game drive through the park and see other primate species as well as birds. Drive back to the lodge for dinner and slumber.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi.

Have your breakfast and participate in the morning game drive and then drive to Bwindi Impenetrable national forest that natures 1000 of the rare mountain gorillas, over 450 species of birds and over 400 plant species. This journey will get you through the Ishasha plains of  Queen Elizabeth national park where the tree climbing lions are found. Have lunch en route and then arrive at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Drive hour: 4-5 hours

Day 6: Gorilla trekking

After a tasty breakfast, join other trekkers at the park Headquarters for briefing and grouping. Here you will be divided in a group of not more than 8 people and then assigned to trek a particular gorilla family. Grouping depends on the physical ability of the trekkers since other area s are so hilly and very hard for the elderly and vulnerable people to trek. Once with the gorillas, you are given only one hour and then trek back to the headquarters where you will meet your driver. Get back to the lodge for dinner and slumber.

Day 7: Transfer back to Kampala.

After breakfast, you will travel back to Kampala passing via Fort portal for lunch and another stopover at the Equator for photography. You will reach Kampala late in the evenings. You can go straight to the airport if you have a flight that day or remain in Kampala/Entebbe at an extra cost.
