5 Days Uganda primates Trekking safari

Tour Details.

The safari starts and ends in Kampala and it includes a gorilla trekking permit and a chimp trekking permit.  This tour takes you to two national parks ie, Kibale national park and Bwindi Impenetrable national park. These activities are so interesting and visitors are given one hour to observe the primates.

Bwindi Impenetrable national park was opened to tourists in 1993 with the Mubare gorilla family as the only habituated family in the park. currently, there are 13 habituated gorilla families in the park and the found in 4 sectors namely; Rushaga, Nkuringo, Buhoma, and Ruhija sector.

A maximum of 8 trekkers is allowed to visit a particular gorilla family for one hour under the guidance of an experienced tour guide. Therefore, a limited number of gorilla trekking permits is available every day but require an early booking.

Kibale national park is found in the southwestern part of Uganda and it is home to numerous numbers of chimpanzees. There are over 1500 chimps staying in their natural habitat in this park. A maximum of 6 people is allowed to visit particular chimp members for one hour.

Detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Kibale national park.

Upon your arrival at the airport, you will be picked up by your guide who will transfer you to the hotel to first relax and have your morning breakfast. From there you will embark on your journey of 6 hours to kibale national park. Along your way will get a stop over at the equator where you will have some fun and take photos. You will then continue with your journey to kibale where you will have a stop over in fort portal and then have your lunch. From there you will continue with your journey where you will be welcomed at the park entrance and then directed to the lodge to have an overnight. You will relax, refresh and then rest as you prepare for the next day.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale.

After taking your morning breakfast, you will be picked by your guide who will take you to kanyanchu the park headquarters of kibale national park to first have a brief briefing about how to trek the chimpanzees in the jungle. From there, you will be divided into groups of 8 who will be  allocated  to a chimpanzee  family  for trekking. You will then start the trekking after getting the chimpanzees, you will be given ample time to stay with them as you are having fun and taking photos.

From there, you will get back to the loge have lunch and then prepare for an evening bigodi nature walk in the park where you get to interact with the local people there and get to know what they do to earn a leaving. You will then get back to the lodge, refresh have your dinner and then rest.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park.

On this third day, you will wake up grab your self a cup of coffee and then you will be picked up by your guide who will transfer you to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park the widely known park with many mountain gorillas. On your way, you will get to see the beautiful land scapes, the vegetation, the rolling hills of kigezi and so on. You will have a stop over on your way where you will have your enroute lunch. From there you will continue with your journey where you will arrive and be welcomed at the  park entrance and you will be directed to the lodge where you will spend your overnight. You will refresh up, have your dinner and then relax.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable national park.

After grabbing your morning coffee, you will be picked up by your guide who will transfer you to the park headquarters to first have a briefing about trekking rules and the regulations. From there you will be divided into groups of 8 members who will then be allowed to enter into the jungle and start the trekking. Once you get the gorilla family, you will be given ample time to stay with them as you are having fun and taking photos. From there you will get back to the lodge, have lunch and then relax as you prepare for an evening batwa community walk. Here you will get to talk to these local  people you will find in this  community, know there ways of leaving and know what they do to earn a leaving.

From there you will get back to the lodge, have refresh up, have dinner and then rest.

Day 5: Transfer back to Kampala / Entebbe.

After grabbing your morning coffee, you will pack up your items and then your guide will pick you and then you embark on your journey back to Kampala where you will have a stop over at the igongo cultural center, have a look at it, you can  also have some meals there and then continue with your journey back to Kampala.  This will mark the end of your trip.
