7 Days Rwanda Gorillas and Wildlife.

This safari takes you to Rwanda’s top national parks including Nyungwe forest National Park, Akagera National park and Volcanoes National Park for the big five game viewing, gorilla trekking, chimpanzee trekking and golden monkey trekking.

Volcanoes national park is located in the northwest side of Rwanda in the Virunga conservation area, it harbors 350 mountain gorillas divided into 10 habituated families. Nyungwe forest is a home to endangered chimpanzees and colubus monkeys, 300 bird species.

You will also visit Akagera national park which is a haven to the big five mammals namely lion, leopards, buffalo, Elephant and other animals to sight include topis, oribis, waterbucks, warthogs among others.

Detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park.

Pick up by the driver guide and start your journey to Nyungwe National park, our journey will have stopovers at Nyanza kings palace, Murambi genocide museum and an en route lunch. Reach Nyungwe in the evening.

Meal plan: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Accommodation:

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk.

After breakfast, set off to Kyamudongo forest be briefed by park rangers and then proceed with the chimpanzee trekking adventure. Have an hour of photography and enjoying how the chimps behave in their habitat, return to the hotel for lunch. Have a canopy walk in the evening return to the hotel for overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes national park.

Have a relaxed breakfast and then embark on our journey to volcanoes National Park with mini stop overs for photography as well as sight-seeing. Reach Volcanoes national park in afternoon have lunch and relaxation.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking.

Have breakfast and proceed to park headquarters for briefing about the do’s and don’ts of gorilla trekking. With packed lunch, we embark on the ultimate gorilla trekking experience and after finding the gorillas you shall have an hour with them observing how they behave and taking photos. In the evening go for a cultural experience to Ibywachu village and learn about the Banyarwanda culture. Back to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Golden Monkey Trekking.

A cup of coffee to stir up the day, proceed to the forest for golden monkey trekking and after finding them you will enjoy watching them play as you take photos. Have lunch and drive to Kigali for overnight.

Day 6: Transfer to Akagera National park and Boat cruise.

After breakfast, transfer to the only Rwanda’s savannah park boasting all the big five mammals. Have a short game drive and an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema, expect to see schools of hippos, crocodiles plus water birds.

Meal plan: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 7: Game drive and transfer back to Kigali.      

Have an early morning game drive in the northern section of the park expecting to spot various mammals like lions, antelopes, zebras among others. Drive back to Kigali for drop off.
